Everything You Need to Know
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How long does it take to get used to a denture?
Usually 2–4 weeks for full adaptation. In the first few days you may notice increased salivation or slight difficulty speaking. All of which disappear as your muscles adjust.
Should I remove it at night?
Yes. It’s recommended you remove it every night and store it in clean water or a special cleaning solution. Your gums need to “rest” to stay healthy.
How do I clean my denture?
With a soft brush or a special denture soap after every meal. Avoid regular toothpaste. It can scratchthe surface.
How long does a denture last?
With proper care, 5–10 years. However, over time the underlying bone changes, and the denture may need relining or replacement.
Can I upgrade my denture to be implant-supported?
Yes. Implant-supported overdentures are a modern solution anchored to 2–4 implants, providing far greater stability. At Dentistar, we can plan this transition individually for you.
Is fitting a denture painful?
The fitting itself is completely painless. In the first few days you may notice small pressure points on the gums. These are easily adjusted at quick follow-up visits.
